      Ben G Courgette

Courgette (aka Ben Lloyd) uses household paint to create naïve, cartoon-like images on canvas and board. The Welsh artist’s surreal compositions fuse mundane domestic items with human faces and limbs. Courgette’s style, much like his pseudonym, is playful and tongue-in-cheek. We love Courgette’s experimental touch and his diverse range of subjects and visuals. This is an artist whose every work is distinct from the next.

Courgette completed his undergraduate degree in Fine Art at the Liverpool School of Art and went on to do a master’s at the Cardiff School of Art. The artist has exhibited his work throughout the UK and has been featured in various publications, including the South Wales Evening Post and the Western Telegraph.

Over the past decade, Courgette has received numerous grants from the Arts Council of Wales. The most recent of these was for a project called ‘The Road to New York’, an installation inspired by the final journey taken by Welsh Quakers from the village of Pennsylvania in South West Wales.
