More Works by Carla Amaral Noronha
Carla Amaral Noronha
Carla Amaral Noronha is a Portuguese-born painter based in the Portugal and the United Kingdom. Her work explores the emotional relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit, often reflecting on memory, displacement, and the idea of home. Having moved from Portugal to the UK at a young age, Noronha’s practice is informed by personal experiences of migration and belonging, which shape the quiet narratives and atmospheric qualities of her paintings.

Working primarily with acrylic on wood or canvas, she builds layered compositions using oil pastels and pencil, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to interact in an intuitive process. Her paintings often balance abstraction and suggestion, creating spaces where architectural fragments, interiors, and landscapes dissolve into memory like forms.

Noronha graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2019, studying Fine Art Painting. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and design led spaces across London, including presentations with M.A.H. Gallery. Her paintings have also been featured in publications including British Vogue, Grey Magazine, House & Garden, and 25 Beautiful Homes, reflecting the growing recognition of her work within contemporary art and interiors contexts.

Through a subtle interplay of colour, form, and memory, Noronha’s practice invites viewers to reflect on the emotional landscapes embedded within everyday spaces.
