Juanjo Barreda
Juanjo Barreda is a Spanish visual artist living in London. Juanjo Barreda was born in Castellón and studied industrial engineering at ICAI Madrid and at the École Centrale Paris. In 1996, he moved to New York to study at the School of Visual Arts and at the Art Students League. His focus is on abstract painting. In 1998, he returned to Madrid and completed a degree in graphic design at CEV Escuela Superior de Comunicación, Imagen y Sonido. He worked as a graphic designer at CrazyLabs and simultaneously wrote a 212-page fictional essay titled 'IM54 / Immigrant manual 2054'. In 2000, he completed a degree in illustration at ESDIP Escuela de Arte Madrid. In 2005, he founded Nonoloa, an urban clothing brand based on collaboration with a variety of urban artists, such as: Eltono, Eno Henze, Gabriel Moreno, Nano 4814, Jean Paul Thurlow, Eva Solano, Boris Hoppek, {ths} ... He continued his work as an illustrator. In 2013, he moved to London, where he continued to paint abstract works and began painting portraits. He also started to participate in some dance projects, such as "On falling & recovering" by Hagit Yakira [2016], and created some textile artworks, such as "Numochi", in collaboration with costume designer and performer Lula Land. In 2022, he had his first solo exhibition at The Print Club London and has participated in several group exhibitions.
