Kate McCrickard

Kate McCrickard is a painter, printmaker and writer based in Paris, France. Kate creates elegant and contemporary figurative artworks often inspired by the happenings in Belleville, Paris. The sketchy and highly diaristic nature of her works lends them a certain Parisian grittiness and edge. Corrections, scrapes, tears and fingerprints are left unadorned, delivering vigour and character to all her pieces.

Kate McCrickard's Education and Early Career

Kate has an MA Honours Degree in Fine Art, University of Edinburgh, Scotland (First Class Honours, 1998). She received the John Kinross Scholarship and MacLean Watters Medal (1998) on top of the Sir John Ford Travel Scholarship to Spain (1998). Kate also has a BTEC Diploma in Art from Bradford College of Art, West Yorkshire. In 2007, Kate and David Krut Projects curated an exhibition of prints by William Kentridge, shown at the Edinburgh Festival from July to September. In 2012, she produced several show-stopping printworks with Master Printer Jillian Ross. Kate showcased these prints and paintings as part of her first solo exhibition at DKP New York, entitled Kid. In 2015, DKP New York opened a second solo show by Kate, titled This is my proper ground. The exhibition included paintings on canvas and cardboard and a selection of sketchbook drawings by the artist.
