Christine Pillot studied in the 1980s at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and at the Faculty of Plastic Arts in Bordeaux. At 23, she moved to Senegal for 20 years. Together with Mauro Petroni, she co-directed the workshop "Céramiques Almadies," an art center, exhibition gallery, and workshop, a reference place for artists and cultural operators. This space is still very active today and participates in the Dakar Contemporary Art Biennale. She multiplies artistic projects, commissions, scenographies, space and object design. Her exhibition journey takes her work to several countries in Africa and Europe. She is nourished there by a rich inspiration of light, colors, rhythms, and contrasts; she perfects her technique in oil painting as well as in acrylic. In her last years in Dakar, she works on artistic expression with patients at the Fann Psychiatric Hospital and with street children from the Samu Social. Since 2009, she has been residing in Bordeaux, France. Her phases of research in oil painting are a dialogue inspired by chance and necessity. Her meticulous painting radiates like a mantra chanting the time of encounters between microcosm and macrocosm, visible and invisible. In a process of eternal recommencement, the omnipresent dualism, the natural phenomena of expansion and breathing transform her canvases into an internal growth of slowness or trance.
