Sophie Cantou

Sophie Cantou is self -taught. The drawing has always been present in her life since she is old enough to hold a pencil. She drew all her childhood. In adolescence, the artist discovers painting, which offers him a larger and deeper field of expression.
She made art her dream, and graphic design her profession by becoming an artistic director in advertising for 15 years, first in agency and then on her own account. She lived painting between intervals.
In 2016, Sophie Cantou understands that she needs to reinvest the painting fully, the first sales arrived. In 2017, she decided to devote herself to 100%, and made her first exhibitions. The welcome was positive, she said she had the chance to see her work, her approach and her evolution encouraged.
"It is the beauty of nature, of our world, which calls out to me and inspires me, what I can perceive from its intelligence, its poetry, its hidden code. There are forms and movements that We find everywhere and beyond time, on the scale of the smallest and the greatest. These resonances fascinate me. The iris of our eyes takes the form of the sun, the movements of the foam resemble those of the bark of the trees. The ocean often evokes the sky. And one can imagine aerial views by looking at the skeleton of the leaves ... All the units consist of several parts and energies. All these forms magnetize me. I am trying to extract this magic. I am always inspired by an interior image but very quickly the painting takes on its own identity, and my approach becomes more intuitive and personal. I am really trying to release my authenticity, to allow myself the expression of 'An inner and personal, free vision. "
His favorite tools are the knife and the brush. At the sandstone of his feelings in front of the canvas, the diapers follow one another. His inspirations are multiple and go from stained glass, mosaics and fractal images.
