"We have the ability to read things, to read everything in what we understand. Many of my paintings often contain literal or indirect references. Despite any possible similarities, I encourage a more open reading of my work.
Color has a mass of its own that fills all space. I continue to explore my interest in nature beyond this space, and I try to let the painting create itself, create the conditions in which it will grow, become something.
I rely a lot on the nature of the materials I use, so sometimes it's really an exploration, as if you've entered a space you've never been in before and discovered things you didn't even know existed.
Painting is about leaving traces somewhere, just as our lives leave traces in the space, on the walls or in the environment we live in. So I try to leave traces and understand the canvas as a place where things inevitably have been, where events happen, where life happens.
I believe in the idea of professionalism, which some artists don't like. And even if you have a talent for something and you know it will be something worth living for, you have to make an effort."
