Gaël Caron is a contemporary artist and artistic director based in Paris. He discovered his passion for oil pastel during his studies at ESAAT in Roubaix and through evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. A graduate of Gobelins, the school of image, and with a professional background in advertising at DDB Paris, he has developed a practice centered on this dense and tactile medium. Through oil pastel, he explores the fragile poetry of the everyday: fragments of ordinary existence, fleeting moments of adolescence, and human bodies captured in the prism of the digital.
His works are characterized by a delicate balance between sweetness and intensity. Each color, chosen like a precise word, shapes the emotional space he creates. The inherent uncertainty of oil pastel – which never completely dries – maintains a silent tension and gives his practice an assumed fragility, a mirror of the precariousness of our time.
Gaël draws his inspiration from what escapes the gaze: details that we no longer notice, but which reveal the essential. True to his belief – "Making visible what we no longer see" – he conceives art as a refuge and a vital breath, an instinctive gesture that shares an intimate and poetic vision of the world. His recurring themes – daily life, adolescence, humanity, and the presence of bodies in their digital dimension – compose sensitive fragments through which he invites us to feel before thinking.
"Through oil pastel, I sculpt emotional spaces where each nuance of color becomes a precise word, capturing the poetry of the banality of everyday life. My art breathes the fragility and subtle tension of a precarious time, where color structures and embodies much more than a simple optical illusion."
