Emerging Artist

Julie Balsaux lives and works in Brittany. A visual artist since 2012, she presents her works in France and internationally (Italy, Sweden, Canada, Luxembourg).

Convinced that nothing is "ex nihilo," she feeds her creations — drawings, sculptures, installations, sound pieces — with readings (essays, novels, press) and her own experiences. Her protean work, permeated by poetic, political, or sometimes absurd commitments, always seeks to reach out to others, to awaken the imagination, and to shift established boundaries.

In 2021, her work was certified by the I-CAC, which also establishes her rating (see here: https://www.i-cac.fr/artiste/balsaux-julie.html).

In 2022, she received the Excellence Award for Craftsmanship from the Brittany region when she became a Master of glass and bronze craftsmanship.

In August 2024, the Federation of Glass and Crystal distinguished her by inscribing her in the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The Pinacothèque, a private museum of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, also awarded her the Certificate of Artistic Merit, in recognition of the quality of her work, during her participation in the international selections of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
