Gina Parr is both a painter and photographer.

The Artists says of her photography practice: When I'm traveling and away from my painting studio, I use a camera as my way of ‘painting’ whilst on the move. Often mistaken as reproductions of my paintings, my photographs are original Limited Edition pieces.

Whilst photographing I’m seeking to find painterly illusions of scape, form and fictional places within the marks, stains, colours and textures of distressed and weathered walls and other surfaces, sometimes parts of which have intentionally or accidentally been laid down by others. My intent is to photographically frame these abstract, figurative images and subsequently print them exactly as found. Since 2010 I have produced series of photographs from: Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, UK, Sri Lanka, Cuba, France, Spain and most recently Morocco.

Originally receiving a First Class BA Honours Degree in Fine Art, she went on to Chelsea College of Art to study Set Design, leading to a 25 year career Production Designing many notable shows for BBC Television, returning to her full time Art practice in 2007.

She has lectured at Chelsea College of Art and Nottingham University and has widely exhibited in galleries and art fairs in the UK and Europe. Her photography is held in many Worldwide collections and was selected for the RA Summer Show 2024 and the RWA Photography Open in 2023.
