Trudy Montgomery

Joyful and uplifting, Trudy Montgomery's tendency to towards scale and intense colour is influenced by the light and space of California, where she lived for 14 years. Bold and expressive, her paintings portray an active vitality and freedom of spirit. She draws inspiration from her travels, both inner and outer, and sees her work as inner or spiritual landscapes. Working from a meditative state of action, Trudy uses the possibilities of paint to convey in the abstract what is, so often, inexpressible via words.

Trudy was born in Bristol, England in 1970. Following a degree in political science, she lived and worked in California for 14 years, initially working in technology companies in Silicon Valley and in 2005 founding an art advisory firm, Blue Tangerine Art. She began painting full time in 2009 and her work has since been exhibited in London, Los Angeles, New Delhi and Berlin. Trudy returned to the UK in 2012 and now works from her studio in West Cornwall.
