Emma Peer is a Painter and Printmaker. She creates paintings and prints influenced by her background in fashion design, often referencing textiles and pattern. With her studio based in Leigh-on-Sea on the Essex coast, she has recently been developing a series of Trompe-l’œil works of found photography in interior spaces. Using mainly paint on wood panel and paper, Emma works from a combination of observation, imagination and vintage photography. Her paintings have a playful nostalgic quality that captures the everyday.
Inspired largely by the Great Bardfield Artists and associated painters; Emma's work uses related themes of 'The Everyday', British landscapes and pastimes, in turn, capturing a similar English early modernist aesthetic.
Emma graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2018 with First Class Hons in Womenswear Fashion Design and has recently studied on the Royal Drawing School’s Drawing Intensive course.
