Chris Pillot

Christine Pillot studied in the 80s at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and at the Faculty of Plastic Arts in Bordeaux. At 23, she went to Senegal for 20 years. Together with Mauro Petroni, she co-directed the workshop "Céramiques Almadies," an art center, exhibition gallery, and workshop, a reference point for artists and cultural operators. This space is still very active today and participates in the Dakar contemporary art biennale. She multiplies artistic projects, commissions, scenographies, spatial and object design. Her exhibition journey takes her work to several countries in Africa and Europe. She then explores color, transparencies, layering; at that time, the white background is a taboo. Her series are explorations of geometric abstraction. In her last years in Dakar, she works on artistic expression with patients from the Fann Psychiatric Hospital and with street children from the Samu Social. Since 2009, she has returned to her homeland and resides in Bordeaux where her workshop is located. Her current canvases are visible in Bordeaux at her workshop. Her series have been created on themes related to the evolving process of creation in nature, on a scientific and organic level, the constant and precise work of the hand in space and time, in the concept of eternal recurrence. Since 2020, she has been working on color and light.
