Andrea Plaza

Andrea Plaza, or Anplac as she’s often known, is a multi-disciplinary visual artist. Trying her hand at everything from ceramics and painting to fashion design and digital work, Andrea has exhibited her work globally for over two decades. The range of Andrea’s influences echoes the far-reaching nature of her style, and in her work she explores themes spanning from music and nature to ecology and human rights.

Early Life and Education

Andrea was born in 1976 in Buenos Aires and spent her childhood in Cuba and France. At the age of 18, Andrea began making ceramics, which she studied in Chile, before going on to study in Buenos Aires, then in France. From this initial interest in ceramics, came an intrigue in painting and the freedom of expression it offered Andrea. Today, many of Andrea’s most recognised works are her illustrative style acrylic paintings.

Andrea Plaza’s Inspiration

Forever travelling the world, Andrea takes inspiration from Latin American Street Art, African Art, Mexican frescos and muralism. Artists such as Rothko, Twombly, Basquiat and van Gogh continue to inform Andrea’s ever-evolving style, which straddles the boundaries of expressionism, abstract and figurative art. Whilst enjoying the vivid and versatile nature of acrylic paint, Andrea often adopts salvaged fabrics and found materials into her work.
