Emerging Artist

Didier Ferré is a sculptor based on the island of Ré, where he draws his inspiration. His art, inspired by his travels to the far corners of the world, also finds its roots in the work of Amedeo Modigliani, whose deep gazes and clean lines he admires. He mainly carves the fine-grained cream-colored limestone from the island of Ré, which he deconstructs and reinvents through an aesthetic situated between contemporary and Art Deco. His works are characterized by minimalist forms, an attention to volumes, and a subtle treatment of patina. His universe invites viewers to see stone differently, to feel it no longer as a frozen block, but as a living fragment giving birth to unique, timeless pieces, thus affirming his style that evokes daydreaming and travel. In 2011, he participated in a competition where he presented a figurehead in wood, "Le Corsaire," at the Musée de la Marine in Paris. Present at numerous cultural events in the region, including the island of Ré, La Rochelle, La Baule, and Paris.
