"Just Another Ashkenazi with Agoraphobia and a Camera" -Geoffrey Ansel Agrons

"...I'm so glad I came, but I can't wait to leave" -St. Vincent

Geoffrey Ansel Agrons is an American photographer who produces intriguing, melancholic imagery. He captures spaces and scenes in a way that subtly puzzles the viewer. His central focus is the uneasy coexistence of humans and the natural world, a world of perpetual transition and loss. We love the beauty of his quiet, haunting imagery.

Geoffrey went to medical school in New Jersey. Later, as a diagnostic radiologist, he spent his career interpreting "photographs" of the human interior. Each study was approached as a puzzle with a potential solution, and each analysis was a quest for certainty, culminating in a written report. In time he grew interested in a different relationship with images, one that favored wordless emotional response over vigilant interpretation. In middle age he became a still photographer.

The photographer has been awarded a number of titles for his work, including Honorable Mentions at The Centre for Fine Art Photography in Colorado, the Juror's Choice Award at Praxis Gallery and Photographic Arts Center in Minneapolis, MN, and Best Landscape at Phillips' Mill Photographic Exhibition in New Hope, PA. His work has appeared in Shots Magazine, Lens Magazine, and The Sun Magazine.
