Didier Ferré
Art and the Manner. After a career in the world of cruises, hospitality, and catering, Didier Ferré discovers and studies sculpture in Paris 17 with Marie La Varande. He settles in Rivedoux-Plage on the island of Ré and enriches his sculptural journey at the association L' Atelier de La Rochelle, of which he is Vice President.
Art and the Manner of shaping the earth, sculpting stone, and wood are influenced by his travels to the ends of the earth but also and especially by Amedeo Modigliani, where he discovers pure and stylized looks and curves.
Multiple works are created in fine-grained beige limestone from the island of Ré dating from the late Jurassic. Once polished, this limestone visually and tactilely resembles marble and ivory, which gives his works, unique and timeless pieces, allowing him to assert his style that evokes daydreaming and travel.
In 2011, he participated in a competition where he presented a figurehead in wood, "The Corsair," at the Musée de la Marine in Paris.
Since 2018 to this day, he has exhibited at the Sénac de Meillhan gallery in La Flotte en Ré, the Concept Store Gallery in La Baule. From 2018 to 2024, he exhibited at the Karry gallery in Paris 7. Present at numerous cultural events in the region, island of Ré, and La Rochelle.
