Sarah Evans produces prints, drawings and textiles inspired by architecture. Her work, much of which is hand-drawn, focuses on the post war modernist architecture of the 50s, 60s and 70s. We love Sarah’s fresh take on what have become rather stale and underappreciated building designs. Her drawings…Show more somehow manage to upgrade these older architectural styles and give them a contemporary edge.
Sarah trained as an architect and worked in the industry for fifteen years before diversifying into art. She now works under the company name Oscar Francis.
Sarah’s prints have been featured in a number of magazines and design blogs, and various UK boutiques stock her Oscar Francis products.Show less
"Celebrating the beauty of simple brutalist architecture is not hard to do, and has seen vast proliferation in recent years. Yet there is something else about Sarah's drawings and prints that bring a humanity and character to these often over-stereotyped facades. The texture of her pencil breathes life into these familiar scenes, and asks us to form a new, more intimate relationship with these iconic concrete blocks."
