Jeanne Andrieu

A ceramic artist influenced from childhood by nature, its beauty and its legends, I have drawn my imagination from the enchanted worlds of Miyazaki, J.R.R. Tolkien and Lewis Carroll. I create sculptures inspired by plant worlds from near and far. I explore the depths and representations of marine fauna and flora right through to certain video game landscapes, discovering worlds of colourful and fantastic vegetation. I like to spend time in plant gardens, greenhouses and hiking trails. I observe, classify and draw vegetation. Its infinite patterns, textures and colours fascinate and inspire me. I tenderly nurture my hybrid creatures, which mutate and transform, freely finding their place in my dream world. I like to understand the material, so I create my own enamels and experiment with surface work, from the most brilliant to the most volcanic, via velvet effects. After graduating from art school with a degree and a master's, I taught myself ceramics until I passed a ceramics certification at the Maison de la Céramique in Dieulefit in 2023, which enabled me to develop my surface treatments.
