Hervé Bailly-Basin

Born in 1958, Hervé Bailly-Basin followed studies of plastic arts and philosophy. Originally centered on painting, his artistic practice was transposed from the end of the 80s in the emerging techniques of digital imaging. This virtualization of pictorial practice became a way to "dream" for him, and to explore the aesthetic and poetic potential. The possibility of chaining in visual sequences the successive states of the image-table soon led him to the production of animated paintings, whose sound system ("when immobility breaks, silence is tearing ...") aroused many collaborations With the world of contemporary music, and more particularly with the composer Tristan Murail.
The Audiovisual Grand Prix of the Charles-Cros Academy, awarded to Hervé Bailly-Basin in 2002, devoted this evolution to transdisciplinary works, whose reading image by image continues to reveal a multitude of paintings, of which He would have been possible to paint that a tiny party if he had held on his primordial practice. Aware of the fact that the use of digital techniques has led him to "implicitly model" his way of painting, he has undertaken in recent years to formalize the treatments of treatment reflecting the "secret algorithm" of which he had presumed the existence In an article written for the Revue Nov'art - the equation generating the paintings which he now has to make.
