Born in 1979 in Barcelona, Spain, Laura Basterra Sanz creates intuitive and bold compositions of personal significance. From her Brussels studio, Laura delves into the evocative powers of colour in a quest to decipher the limitless dimensions and qualities of the Self.

Laura Basterra Sanz’s Style and Practice

In Laura’s abstract expressionist paintings, each colour resonates with a shade of emotion; each shape suggests a mood. In this way, her paintings reveal the changeable nature of being. Whether bold and brightly hued or muted and muddied, her works illustrate the many shifting facets of a single self.

Exhibitions

Laura has a BA in Fashion Design from Ramon Llull, Barcelona, Spain. She had a solo show in 2020 called Rain! And So On…, at See U Brussels, Brussels, Belgium.
