Born in 1975 in Cavan, Ireland and now working from the capital of Dublin, Gabhann Dunne is an Irish artist working with all kinds of subjects, from Landscape Paintings to Portraits. Using soft colour palettes and thick brushstrokes, Gabhann creates Oil Paintings with a romantic and poetic quality. Rich in colour and texture, his art is an examination of various different themes, ranging from power structures to the marginalisation of animals and their spaces. This Animal Art is a celebration of our natural environment and ultimately a defence of them that urges us to reconsider our relationship with nature.
Gabhann was born into an artistic environment. His mother was a Watercolour Painter, which encouraged him to explore his creative side from a young age. He went on to study a BA in Fine Art at the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1997, and returned to his studies 13 years later to complete a MA in Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. His work incorporates elements of the Abstract and the Figurative, and has been featured in solo and group shows across Ireland.
You’ll find Gabhann’s Paintings in numerous notable collections, such as Facebook, Deloitte and the Law Society of Ireland. He’s also earned himself a number of awards, including the Taylor Art Award from the Royal Dublin Society (2011) and the Hennessy Craig Scholarship Award (2009).
