Nicolas Bianco

Nicolas Bianco is a self-taught French artist. Born in Nice, he was imbued with the work of leading artists of the Nice School, including Klein, Arman, Cesar, Sosno, Ben and Venet, with whom he discovered contemporary art and its power to transgress the very notion of the work of art. Attracted by volumes, he turned to sculpture as his preferred means of expression. He is above all interested in the symbols and icons of popular and street culture, which influenced his childhood and adolescence in the 80s and 90s. He gives form to these memories in his marble sculptures, a kind of precious ready-made that revives the years gone by. The simple object becomes an energy, an emotion, an era. Nicolas Bianco has developed his own personal aesthetic using innovative and daring techniques and images. He luminously stages the great classics with a modern, uncluttered style. His “Nostalgia” series of objects represents each landmark year of his youth through the sympathetic object of a learning and evolving life, such as a Lego or a basketball hoop... To bring his work to life, he uses noble, raw materials: marble has become an obvious choice, as has the gold that underscores it. His lines are timeless, and his marble works awaken in us a positive nostalgia.
