Trained at the Nancy School of Fine Arts from 1996 to 2001, Christian Caillet turned to drawing and painting techniques. His plastic work is oriented around the landscape, which he reinterprets and which he endeavors to manipulate, distort, in order to give a fragmentary vision. This recurrent theme in his work was born from the need to observe what surrounds him as closely as possible, during his wanderings, taking notes, sketches and photos which he then reworks in the workshop. These recent works take place in our regional environment. The vegetation holds a preponderant place in the implementation of the painted image, and it likes to explore the relations between architecture and the landscape. The branches, as well as the urban elements form a solid anchor point towards a perspective which makes it possible to enter the place of painting, by punctuating its compositions.
