Betty PELMONT's work is part of a reflection on Caribbean culture. This region of the world is characterized by the centuries-old history of encounters between peoples from all continents. Indigenous peoples, Europeans, Africans, Indians, Chinese, Syrians have crossed paths here, often in violence. Composite identities have formed in an extreme natural environment. She draws my inspiration from this source nourished by the world. Authors such as Léonora Miano, William Styron, Tiffany McDaniel, Toni Morrison as well as artists such as Douanier Rousseau, Laurent Casimir, Kehinde Wiley, or Ousman Sow contribute to this inspiration.
