Christian Lucas

From training graphic arts and fine arts, Christian began his career as a graphic designer, Roughman, an agency illustrator in Paris and has been independent artistic director since 2006.
Over the years of "all digital", a desire to reconnect with matter, to regain the feeling of drawing, painting of its beginnings, is felt: a more direct, organic and tactile relationship with its support, a sustainability other than a screen on. By sparing time in front of his canvases almost daily for 3 years, he refines his technique and transcribes on his paintings a universe that is his own. A look, ideas inspired by his passions for vintage, the passage of time, the incongruity, the snapshots of life, ... relating to his creations a quirky vision and sometimes imprint of a humor that characterizes him. For Christian, a work must be able to arouse an emotion, a smile, a questioning, both for itself and for the person who discovers the canvas, and can only be successful by the perfect agreement between three points: the choice of the subject, composition, and realization.
Associating ideas, situations or concepts a priori without relationships, divert or highlight the forgotten aesthetics of a simple current object. A composition worked and impactful by its framing, its plans, values, lights (without doubts its years in the pub). - An achievement that can be described as "figurative-expressionist", by focusing on transcribing volumes, material effects, colors, .... without wanting to be "hyperrealist". Most canvases are worked on acrylic canvas, and Christian sometimes allows himself to associate it by mixing pencils, inks.
