Liorah Tchiprout

Shortlisted for the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Prize, rising star Liorah Tchiprout concerns her drawings and prints with themes of belonging, girlhood and the theatrical. Highly skilled in aquatint, etching, lithography, monotype, and puppetry, the London-based artist cleverly combines various mediums and infuses her works with contemporary relevance and play.

Liorah Tchiprout’s Early Career and Education

Liorah studied Fine Art Print at the University of Brighton, Bezalel School of Art and Design, Jerusalem and Camberwell. Informed by Jewish literature and the canon of art history, Liorah constructs a pantheon of handmade puppet characters. She then draws these characters, a process that suspends them between the real and the imagined world. In this newly constructed dimension, Liorah offers a new world where women's stories are centred - a world where the female figures can liaise, interact, and plot.

Awards and Exhibitions

Liorah received the Print Futures Award and the John Purcell Paper Award. You can find her work in public and private collections in Europe, the Middle East and the USA.
