The matrix is at the heart of the creative process: it is where the printmaker expresses their sensitivity, chooses the right technique, and shapes the image.
Empreinte is a printmakers’ collective passionate about traditional techniques—no computers, only inks, varnishes, needles, and presses. Copper, wood, or linoleum matrices carry the grooves and surfaces that form each work. Techniques include drypoint, etching, aquatint, mezzotint, and xylography.
Through the exhibition and activities at the CAPE square, Printmakers’ Square invites the public to explore the richness and diversity of printmaking.
