Exploring themes of light and shadow, translucence and opacity through her paintings, drawings and prints, Carline imbues her work with an immersive and atmospheric quality. Drawing from the shapes and forms of the natural world, she creates work that has a three-dimensional quality, reinforcing the idea of moving into the world of the picture itself. She uses stencils and translucent layers as if they are refractions dancing over a landscape or the play of light at a specific time of day. After graduating Hermione worked as a textile designer, co-founding the design studio The Collection, selling throughout Europe, Japan and the USA before returning to fine art in 2005.Show less
