Elizabeth Barnes is an artist and educator and has lived and worked in Vancouver BC for the past 15 years. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and her MFA from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She has exhibited in both public and commercial galleries throughout the United States and Canada.
Her work is informed through a practice of walking and the complex history of non-objective painting. Through the physical sensation of space, she questions how to represent both urban and natural environments as revealed in layers of strata, hidden histories, and longings for the future.
