Lolcats at the gallery

A new show at The Photographers' Gallery charts the takeover by cats of the internet. Is it a bizarre trend or an important cultural event shaping a generation of couch surfers?

Cats have invaded internet culture in all sorts of weird and unexpected ways and a new show at The Photographers Gallery aims to charter this bizarre trend as an important culutural event. The show "Felines, Photography and The Web - For the lol of Cats" runs from the 12th Oct 2012 to 6th Jan 2013 and will include a special publication in November in which various writers "playfully consider the place of the cat image in contemporary culture." Here's a few of those newly iconic images that you can expect in this new show:
