Doug Henders

Doug Henders is a contemporary painter who creates information based portraits, figures and landscapes. Drawing on the experience of working as a Cartographer at US Army Headquarters in Germany in the 80’s, Henders works with surveillance photography, digital imaging and media, including brushstrokes, spray paint, stencils and collage. His methods reflect the process of identity construction in an age of social/media relations, in search of illumination and spiritual connection. Over the past 25 years his work has been exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, biennials and art fairs. Currently he is represented by B Drygoods Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, Onessimo Gallery in Palm Beach, FL and Galerie Brigitte Schenk in Cologne, Germany. His paintings also appear in feature films, television and streaming platforms. Henders painted the album cover “Around the World in a Day” for the musical artist Prince and artwork for the “Everybody’s Coming to My House” video and "American Utopia" album by David Byrne.
