Gundle has her finger on the pulse of life, she reflects on our fragile existence through her creative practice. Portraits of people have always been central to her focus. For the past forty-five years she has been documenting the people who surround her. Gundle is known for her bold and vibrant use of colour, she works across an extensive range of media including sculpture, ceramics, printing, painting, and drawing to create her visual world.
On 20th March 2020 when Covid -19 changed our world, Gundle started a visual diary, documenting Life in the Time of Covid 19, to navigate the present and document the daily impact that this virus was having on our lives. This diary continues and Kimberley is currently on day 977. She continues to post a visual thought each day on Instagram, these images connect her to the outside world and reach beyond the boundaries of isolation. She is publishing a book entitled Navigating the Maze - An artist book of her visual thoughts between 20th March 2020 and 20th March 2021.
