Josefina Ayllón
Josefina Ayllón is an expressionist self-taught painter. She works in oil and acrylic paint and her subject matter focuses on portraiture.
She has been featured in multiple exhibitions across Europe and the United States, and she completed a residency at Palazzo Monti in Brescia, Italy.
She was finalist for the Exibart Prize 2020.
She sees her artwork as a struggle between fictional portraits and paint physicality. As there is no purpose in feigning the real world, it’s the material reality of the painting itself, as a two-dimensional object, that is of interest. In her work, the predominant use of impasto goes along with color, texture and gesture.
