Rise Art Members' Choice

So, we've done our stats and here's a roundup of this month's Most Favourited on Rise Art. And what can we say, you're a diverse bunch. From a moody, photographic, Cumbrian landscape to the fruitfully abstract and a downright delicious depiction of urban Makati, we simply can't gage what you'll give us next month. Enjoy!

David Connor, Low Hall

This month's members' favourite is Low Hall by David Connor. David is a Lake-District photographer who sets out to capture those moments when light and form come together to create an emotional response which he captures to share with the voyeur. 

Paul Hirst, Chasing the Light (The Gap Between) 

Next up, you've chosen an oil on canvas painting by Paul Hirst. Throughout his work, the artist explores how internal memories and experiences influence how we interpret the external world around us. This particular piece holds residency in Hirst's Chasing the Light series in which the artist explores sense of place and the importance of light.

Kristjana S Williams, Summer Hjartur Tre

One of Rise Art's all time most popular and third most highly favourited this month is Summer Hjatur Tre by Kristjana S Williams. Kristjana's had a busy year; Autumn/Winter 2012 saw the birth of her collaboration with Paul Smith Globe Store, Kristjana's work received Highly Commended for 'Best Use of Colour in the Arts' at the Dulux Colour Awards and further she art directed the Wilderness Festival for the third year running. Summer Hjartur Tre is a limited edition print - aliken to her other works in the sense that it carries her trademark hybrid of Victorian engraving and contemporary illustrations and colouring. 

Rebecca King, Makati

Closely following Kristjana, we have Makati by Rebecca King. Rebecca's practice focuses upon people in our ever-evolving cities, particularly concentrating on a conscious and reflective reaction to the tensions of the urban experience. Makati renders traditional patterns and iconographies within a harsh urban landscape. They are not entirely merged; yet instead remain integral to the sense of place and cultural belonging. 

Alan Sastre, LPS1

And finally new-comer Alan Sastre's LPS1 is favourited at number five. Alan's paintings are in the ultimate frontier of the abstract. Born in Barcelona, the artist studied Fine Arts and specialised in pictorial procedures and mural paintings. His large canvas bare architectural structures that play with the viewer's perceptions.
