Joe Webb: Pulp Friction

Collage artist Joe Webb, exclusive to CCA and in partnership with Rise Art, exhibits at Hang up Gallery. We give our members an insight into his work.

By Charlotte Broomfield | 18 Jul 2013

A collection of Joe Webb's dreamy and impressionable collages are currently being exhibited in a collection titled Pulp Friction at the Hang Up Gallery until 21st July 2013.

Inspired by the collage works of Sir Peter Blake amongst others, Joe uses vintage magazines and printed ephemera to create hand-made low fi collages. Joe's images explore love and longing and have at their centre an illusory nostalgia for the era of classic Hollywood film stars and Romance with a capital R. Dismissing the aid of computer trickery, Joe intimately recomposes his collection of printed materials to create simple and elegant, yet surreal images. To beget original editions, Joe has stayed true to the texture and feeling of collage by using real collaged elements in the silkscreens as well as embossing and glazing.

Webb's work has become an online sensation with tens of thousands of people sharing his images on the Internet. As well as going viral in the virtual world, ’Antares and Love II' has been displayed in the Saatchi Gallery, London.

In partnership with CCA Galleries we have a collection of Joe's work on Rise Art.
