Rise Art is pleased to support the Contemporary Art Societys upcoming series "How to Collect". The talk, which features Joanna Thornberry of the Lisson Gallery, is a must for anyone looking to broaden their understanding of the art market and the basics of collecting. The discussion will 'explore the intricacies of the intimate working relationships required to support artists in bringing important works of art to market. Of particular relevance will be the multifaceted nature of the role, which is by turns critical, practical and promotional.' The main discussion will be proceeded by a look at the season to come, more specifically the forthcoming international art fairs, where the panel will give top advice for buying work at these events. As part of our support, Rise Art members receive a discounted rate at the event. To register, email henry@contemporaryartsociety.org

Joanna Thornberry has worked with artists such as Richard Long, Diana Thater, Howard Hodgkin, Martin Maloney, Rachel Whiteread, Bridget Riley, Fiona Rae, Julian Opie, Jason Martin and Richard Deacon. She studied History of Art in Glasgow and later at the Courtauld and gone on to work at Anthony d'Offay Gallery, Timothy Taylor, Stuart Shave and most recently The Lisson Gallery.

The event takes place on Tuesday the 13th of September, at the Contemporary Art Society London from 6.30 till 9pm. For more details see the Rise Art event page here.
