  • Jennifer Klos

Rise Art Prize Judge Jennifer Klos says:

"Elizabeth's eye-catching drawings appear in great detail and exemplify hyperrealism in art today. For the emerging collector, these images of skulls, butterflies, lobsters, and other objects of everyday life introduce a sense of storytelling in topics such as reality, life and history. The addition of gold leaf adds an unexpected element and further reflects a significance of value in our society today."

  • the end of the beginning

Description:   The iconic imagery of the death's-head hawkmoth is another example of mans vilifying of a creature. The ‘deathly’ aesthetic of these moths has led many cultures to place a symbolic value on them. The 24 k gold background, inspired by designer interior and patterns juxtaposes the moth into a homestead setting,  turning the creature into an 'object' of desire by mans eye.

    Elizabeth Waggett

Elizabeth Waggett is a British artist based in New York. Elizabeth's works highlight the ever-growing confusion in today’s modern society. They challenge the viewer to confront the relationship between humanity’s preconceived notions of value and worth in our consumable world. By adorning each piece with gold leaf and precious metal, Elizabeth draws attention to the struggle between greed and purpose.

Elizabeth holds degrees from the University of Manchester. Her works are held in private collections globally and most recently she completed a commission for HRH The Prince of Wales.
