Anita creates mixed media artwork that combines drawing, painting and cyanotype techniques. Her practice explores memory, nostalgia and the power of the human mind - it aims to investigate the differences in people’s cultural, political, historical and social backgrounds and what makes a human being a person and how much has to be added or removed for them to lose their identity and lose a sense of who they are. By questioning photography as a medium in its own right, Anita plays with what at first glance appears to be real but when looking closer - surreal narratives emerge. Anita calls this process “painting with photographs”. Anita Rozentale’s work is in private collections in the UK, Germany, Austria, Latvia, Switzerland and USA.She has exhibited in London’s Griffin Gallery and Matt Roberts Arts for Salon Art Prize 2012, was a regional finalist in Lloyds TSB Art of Nurture competition and long listed for BP Portrait Award 2016.
