Elizabeth Waggett

Elizabeth Waggett is a British artist, born in Manchester and now living and working in New York. She adopts a realistic approach to her drawings, faithfully capturing her subjects that range from animals to manmade objects such as guns and grenades. What sets Elizabeth’s work apart from others is her intriguing use of gold leaf and precious metal which can be found adorning each of her pieces. Through this technique, she aims to draw attention to human greed and the ways in which we attach value to objects, challenging the viewer and encouraging them to reconsider their perspective.

Training and Career

Elizabeth started her artistic journey in her home city of Manchester, where she studied a fashion degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and a PGCE in design at Manchester university. She began exhibiting her realistic drawings in group shows and art fairs soon after, and has since had several solo shows across the world. Her unique minimal visual style and challenging ideas have earned her international acclaim, leading her to take up residence in New York where she now has a full-time studio practice.

Elizabeth Waggett’s Collections and Exhibitions

Elizabeth’s highly sought after drawings and prints feature in private collections across the globe, and she has even completed a commission from HRH The Prince of Wales. You’ll see her shows at prestigious galleries and locations such as Joseph Gross Gallery in New York and Soho House in West Hollywood.
