Ahra Lameer

Ahra’s playful work expands on childhood and its memory, inviting prolonged scrutiny to the link between size and time elaborating on both child and adult stages of life. Along with her long term fascination in miniature concepts, and how they act as gateways to childhood reenactments , her work questions the dynamics of scale, or more importantly, the perception of scale, giving shape to a world of imagination and curiosity, where the stability of size is lost, throwing one into a time unknown. She is a freelance contemporary and visual artist with over 20 years in drawing and painting, although her more recent interests lie in graphical and digital approach to making work of self-meaning and sentimental worth. Coming from a family of artists, she decided to take her ability further and recently completed her Bachelors in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, London.

Born in Norfolk in 1980, Ahra spent a large part of growing up in her parents’ native, Sri Lanka, before returning a decade ago. These culturally contrasting atmospheres are apparent in her work as she continues to confront the topic of childhood.
