Sara Hoppe

Born 1983, contemporary artist Sara Hoppe creates collages and oil paintings, often geometric in style. Her work contrasts a careful treatment of colour with a set of destructive technical methods. The artist is interested in exploring the development of new forms through the layering of multiple surfaces and fragmentary elements, taken and transferred to create a new pictorial structure.

Sara attained a Master of Fine Arts from the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, Germany, in 2011, where she also received her BA. The renowned academy brought forth acclaimed artists such as Martin Eder, Cornelia Schleimer, Eberhard Havekost and Gerhard Richter. She has since received multiple awards and grants, including a travel scholarship to Hamburg, and continued to refine her conceptual style.
