Sophie Anne Wyth is a painter living and working in London.
Wyth came to painting through art therapy, which gave spontaneity and freedom to her practice. Her work, both abstract and figurative, is often based on her own experience of human psychology, sex and love.
Wyth mainly works in oil, on canvas or paper, and conveys meaning through shapes and colours.
Wyth studied art and fashion in Paris and started her art career in London alongside directing her fashion business. Her paintings share with fashion an elegance and rigour in the lines and mark making, although she also invites some grit into her art.
She was a finalist in the Celeste Prize 2017 and presented her exhibition First solo show -and counting in London in September 2018. Some of the recent group shows she participated in include “Inspire” at the Mayfair gallery D Contemporary and Every Woman Biennial in Copeland gallery London, both in 2021.
