Norfolk artist Claire Cansick is fascinated by nature, colour and the female form. There are two sides to her work: the landscape and the figure. In both, she often experiments with line and colour.
Her landscapes explore the huge skies and flat, open vistas on her doorstep. They are full of…Show more light, even when set in the middle of a forest.
Her female figures are drawn through a meditative practise and flow from her imagination. She explores line and silhouette within a limited palette to describe a female figure caught in movement, or a moment of stillness.
Claire is a proud member of the highly esteemed artist group the Arborealists and exhibits alongside the 60 strong members all around the UK and Europe and has several pieces featuring in their exhibition calendar 2018.
Claire's work has featured in ArtRooms 2017 at Melia White House London, The Spring Art Show 2017 in Norwich and many solo and group shows around Norfolk, her home county.Show less
"I particularly like Claire Cansick’s female figure series. Her play with perspective and linear quality of drawing result in isolated, otherworldly female giants. They remind me of the work of Egon Scheile."
