About the artist
Sue McQueen is a Kentish-born artist who creates bold and vibrant abstract paintings which are often inspired by landscape and aspects of nature. Sue works in layers of fused and disrupted ‘everyday’ images, which help create a dreamlike quality where the viewer is being invited to look beyond the image. She often uses drawing, collage and other mixed media (including machine and hand stitching) to provide additional details and textures in her work. Each piece is a unique composition with an individual focus often formed from her own observational poetry which she writes in conjunction with her studio work.
Sue studied at Camberwell College of Art and has been a resident artist in London’s Westminster Cathedral and St Paul’s Cathedral. She exhibits regularly and recently had a successful solo exhibition at the gallery in Waterstones Gower Street, London. She lives and works in London and her work can be found in several public and private collections.
