About the artist

Kirsten Lilford is a South African artist who captures everyday snapshots of domestic scenes and suburban landscapes. Her work has an uncanny and ever so slightly sinister edge. Kirsten's paintings are technically accomplished, echoing the work of early 19th Century realists - whilst developing a unique and contemporary style of their own.

Kirsten completed her Masters degree at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town and was subsequently awarded the South African Society of Artists Award for Excellence in painting.

The artist had her first solo exhibition at the Salon 91 Contemporary Art Collection, Cape Town and has since exhibited frequently in South Africa, as well as in Melbourne, London and Venice.
