Pete Codling is a graphite artist based in Portsmouth, England. Having first trained as a sculptor, after twenty years Codling returned to the stripped back practice of drawing following an Arts Council Award in 2010.
Codling studied in Portsmouth first, before taking up a place at the Wimbledon School of Art in the 1990s. In 2017 a solo exhibition of his large drawings was held at The North Wall Gallery, Oxford.
A 2011 Cornaro Fellowship at the Cyprus School of Art allowed for vast travel, teaching, and residencies which have helped inform some of his most recent bodies of work. Codling has work in private collections around the world and in 2017, was shortlisted for seven national art competitions. Most recently, he won the Osanna and the Bezalel Prizes for his Naivety Drawing at the Chaiya Art Awards in London.
