Yunju's art explores landscapes from an individual perspective.

Taiwanese artist Yunju Tsai is now based in London, where she is studying at the Slade School of Fine Art. Working primarily with oil paintings, she creates abstract art from a unique perspective. These paintings are landscapes, but not in the traditional sense, departing from convention and depicting scenes from Yunju’s own point of view. She describes the process of painting like constantly asking questions to herself, and this idea of subjectivity is beautifully expressed through her visible brushstrokes and the blurry quality of her landscape paintings.

Yunju Tsai’s Career

Yunju hails from Taiwan and originally completed a BA course from the Taipei National University of the Arts. She has since developed her style of abstract painting, beginning a course at the world-renowned Slade School of Fine Art in central London and taking part in numerous exhibitions.

Yunju Tsai’s expressionistic art has gained significant attention in her home country, where it has been featured in several group exhibitions, as well as in mainland China. More recently, she has shown her work in the UK, including at the Walls All Around exhibition in Nottingham and the Reconnect group exhibition at the Fitzrovia Gallery in London.
