  • Kathryn Roberts

    The Insider Kathryn Roberts says:

"Elisabeth has developed her own unique style of woodcut print in which she effectively balances areas of intricate detail, often reserved for intaglio techniques such as etching and engraving, with those echoing the wood’s organic surface. Her addition of colour contributes significantly to the composition in prints such as Buoys in Wood and the Socialist New Countryside prints, while her collages incorporate all of these elements to establish another style of visual storytelling."

  • Water Shortage

This is another in the series Britain Today, about our values and what we feel the need to protect - with military force if necessary.

Shortage of water and drought is a huge problem world wide, but not something we suffer in the UK. This is an ironic piece, pointing up that a vase of flowers short of water can be turned round as a water shortage.

The 2 'soldiers',dead tired might also be short of water or otherwise merely in need of a sleep.

The size of the print is as given, the paper size might vary slightly.

    Elisabeth Bond

Elisabeth Bond started out as a writer. She wrote drama for the theatre, TV, radio and film. She's now a printmaker telling stories through woodcuts and etchings.

Bond is influenced by nature and the cycle of life and decay. Decline and regeneration, in human life as well as the natural world, are her main subjects. Waste dumps, mudslides, the aftermath of an earthquake or a bomb, and the hovering crows over it all are here, yet her work has great beauty. Perhaps it's the traditional relief printing techniques, which give these prints their sense of honesty and timelessness.
