  • Nat Rubinstein

    The Insider Nat Rubinstein says:

"Simon Smith’s works combine intricate elements of collage with finely painted details to create a unique visual language. His paintings have a mesmerising quality drawing the viewer in layer after layer. Simon’s works are accessible on so many levels: they are breathtakingly beautiful as decorative objects, but upon closer inspection one can’t help but get drawn into a dream-like world of colours and shapes created by the artist."

  • Gathering flower after flower

... A solitary woman! and she went
Singing and gathering flower after flower,
With which her way was painted and besprent.

Bright lady, who, if looks had ever power

Thy song: like Proserpine, in Enna’s glen,

Thou seemest to my fancy, singing here
And gathering flowers, as that fair maiden when
She lost the Spring, and Ceres her more dear

    Simon M Smith

Simon M. Smith creates beautiful floral paintings with dress pattern tissue, torn paper and soft colour washes. The artist’s designs are delicate and detailed, giving his canvases a soft, sophisticated quality. Some are more abstract than others and each is unique in its colouring and composition - but across all of Simon’s work there is a consistent air of gentility, which we love!

The Lancashire-born artist trained at Manchester Polytechnic and the University of Reading.
